The purpose of this call is to attract research talent through the financing of three research projects led by doctors in collaboration with research staff at the University of the Balearic Islands.
2. REQUIREMENTS
Persons who comply with the following requirements may be researchers or lead researchers (LRs) on the research projects subject to this call:
Doctoral degree. Holding a doctoral degree on the closing date of the application submission deadline.
Postdoctoral period. Under ten (10) effective years having passed since the candidates were awarded their first doctoral degree at the closing date of the application submission deadline. The award date of the doctorate is understood as the date shown on the doctoral certificate-or equivalent document-for the first doctorate awarded to the candidate. The calculation of this effective time period shall exclude certain periods due to the following reasons:
Leave of absences due to maternity or paternity as per the protected rights set out in the General Social Security Regime
Periods of serious illness or accident involving the candidate, with medical leave equal to or above three months.
These suspended periods must have occurred from the date the doctorate was awarded, and be indicated and accredited upon submission of the application. In all instances, they shall represent a sole extension of up to one year in the calculation of the effective time period from the award date of the doctorate.
Mobility. Complying with any of the two requirements related to postdoctoral mobility:
Holding a doctoral degree from a university other than the UIB.
Having undertaken postdoctoral stays at research centres other than the UIB for no less than three (3) months and for a cumulative period not under 12 months. These stays must be accredited with documentation attached to the application.
The fact of having written the doctoral thesis or undertaking a stay at a mixed centre (understood as those where management includes one or more research bodies, as well as the UIB, through a signed agreement) shall be deemed as having been undertaken at the UIB and, therefore, the corresponding time shall not be calculated to accredit compliance with the above requirements.
Candidate LRs with an accredited disability level equal to or above 65% shall be exempt from the second mobility requirement.
3. SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS
Research staff who have a full-time post or temporary contract post within the framework of the Ramon y Cajal or Marie Sklodowska-Curie Programmes and are affiliated with any UIB department, university institute or centre may submit an application. This individual shall act as supervising researcher for the project (SR). In any event, the following aspects must be respected:
A single LR application shall be assessed. Where the person is included in two or more applications, only the last recorded application shall be considered.
A single SR application shall be assessed. Where the person is included more than one application, only the last recorded application shall be considered.
The deadline for submitting applications via a generic request on the UIB Research Staff Portal(PPI) shall be Friday 30th April 2021, inclusive.
The application shall be formalised by selecting the 'Postdocs UIB' programme in the 'Request type' field on the 'Generic Request' on the PPI.
The following scientific and technical documentation must be attached to the request in electronic format:
Curriculum Vitae of the candidate LR (as per the CVN template or similar)
Proposed research project report (as per the template included in Appendix A).
DA provision of space and resources declaration (Appendix B) signed electronically by:
The management of the department, research institute or destination laboratory.
The supervisor of the destination research group.
The supervising researcher, who shall act as applicant.
The following administrative documents related to the candidate LR shall also be attached to the application in the suitable standard format:
Spanish citizens or overseas residents in Spanish territory: a copy of their current accredited ID document.
Non-resident overseas citizens in Spanish territory: a copy of their current passport.
The academic certificate of the doctoral degree, marked clearly and expressly with the award date for the aforementioned degree.
Doctorates from the UIB: the accreditation documents for having undertaken postdoctoral stays not under three (3) months at non-UIB R&D centres for a cumulative total of at least 12 months.
Those who meet the suspension circumstances set out in section II.2: accreditation documents for the medical leave or maternity or paternity leave that led to the absence from work. Candidates who have a disability level equal to or above 65%, in line with section II.3, shall state this on the application form and accredit it with documentation.
